A magnitude 7.9 earthquake has struck the Himalayan nation of Nepal, with reports of extensive damages to property and loss of life. 
Nepali Information Minister Minendra Rijal said there had been "massive damage" at the epicentre, from where little information is emerging.
At least 2800 people were killed so far in the powerful quake that shook 80km east of Pokhara, about half way between the town and the capital Kathmandu.The death toll is expected to more.
Breaking News: 7.5 magnitude earthquake has struck in Kathmandu and all other parts of Nepal. According to U.S. Geological Survey, earthquake occurred less than 50 miles from the capital city Katmandu.
